Students. Join us in building Three Seas Initiative.

The State of Poland Foundation, established by Poland’s National Development Bank (BGK) kindly invites students from the Three Seas region to take part in a competition for the best media articles on the region.

The State of Poland Foundation will reward the authors of the 30 best articles sent in by university students from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Croatia with a fully paid visit to Warsaw, Poland during which the winners will attend the “Gen Free Youth Conference” and the Jabłonki Food and Live Music Festival (evening event Sept. 18) organized by the State of Poland Foundation.

The conference will focus on the prospects that the Three Seas Initiative will have for “Generation Freedom”, meaning the young people who were raised in the Three Seas region after the Iron Curtain was lifted in 1989 and the subsequent fall of communism.

The Foundation will provide the 30 winners with plane tickets to Poland and hotel accomodation. Lunch will be served in connection with the conference and will be followed by evening dinners in the company of Polish and international VIP guests.

The articles to be submitted for the competition should be written on the theme:

MY COUNTRY, AN AMAZING STORY.

Competition participants will be asked to write a 5,000-7,000 characters long article in English about their home country, centered on the following topics:

  • Culinary experiences
  • Art & Culture
  • Nature
  • A famous historical figure who changed the world
  • Life behind the Iron Curtain

The deadline for submitting articles is July 31, 2021.

Articles should be sent to the following e-mail adress: 3s@stateofpoland.pl

The 30 winners will be invited to the Gen Free Youth Conference that will be held in Warsaw on September 17-18, 2021.

The winners will also receive job offers as journalists writing in English (proficient English will be needed but native-speakers will also proofread articles) for a web publication to be launched by the State of Poland Foundation. The publication will cover the Three Seas region, offering news, opinions and analysis on culture, business, politics, travel and lifestyle from the 12 member states of the Three Seas Initiative.

Most of the job offers will consist of flexible part-time jobs, allowing students to maintain the necessary balance between work and their academic obligations.
